Current positions
The majority of Renesys employees are software engineers. They are responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining our interactive Internet applications. Engineers work in small teams to enhance our existing products and develop completely new ones, providing real-time intuitive access to a vast data repository that is focused on the structure and status of the global Internet. Our business continues to grow and we have engineering positions available in all of the following categories. But regardless of the particular skills you currently have, we value intelligence, creativity, teamwork and the ability to produce high quality code in a timely manner above all else.
Software Engineer (Web Tier)
Requirements:- A degree holder in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Linux and open source environments.
- Skilled in Python.
- 3+ years experience with interactive component design and development: Javascript/DHTML, DOM, AJAX, Flash.
- CSS, HTML/XHTML, XML, JSON and template technologies.
- Database programming, SQL.
- A solid understanding of web application programming architectures and frameworks, including HTTP, cookies, etc.
- Eligibility to work in the US.
- At least 3 years of software development experience.
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts.
- Java and Perl experience.
- Strong communications skills and graphic design sense.
- Experience with GIS and/or data mining applications.
- Related contributions to open source projects.
Software Engineer (Data Tier)
Requirements:- A degree holder in Computer Science, Applied Math or a related field.
- Very familiar with Linux and open source.
- Skilled in at least one of Python or Perl.
- Experience in processing large data sets.
- Experience in writing new APIs and writing to existing APIs.
- Exposure to automated data analysis.
- Eligibility to work in the US.
- At least 5 years of software development experience.
- Skilled in both Python and Perl.
- Experience with SQL, custom indexing solutions, network programming and systems integration.
- Experience analyzing data for anomalies, recurrences and other patterns.
- Operational experience and system diagnostic capability.
- Familiarity working with extremely large, complex datasets.
- A good understanding of performance issues in a distributed Linux computing environment.
- Familiarity with network protocols and knowledge of routing (i.e., the typical alphabet soup of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, BGP, etc.).
Software Engineer (Middleware)
Requirements:- A degree holder in Computer Science, Applied Math or a related field.
- Very familiar with Linux and open source.
- Skilled in Python.
- Expert in indexed data retrieval using SQL.
- Operationally focused with an emphasis on efficient retrieval, scaling and fault tolerance.
- A good understanding of performance issues in a distributed Linux computing environment.
- Experience in writing new APIs.
- Eligibility to work in the US.
- At least 5 years of software development experience.
- Postgres experience.
- WSGI-based or HTTP data application experience.
- Familiarity with network protocols and knowledge of routing (i.e., the typical alphabet soup of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, BGP, etc.).
Research Intern
The Research Intern will perform analysis of global Internet routing and related data to derive models of the Internet's organizational structure. Work will be performed using a variety of proprietary and off-the-shelf data analysis tools. Pay will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts.
- Experience with a Linux scripting language (e.g., Python, Perl).
- Familiarity with open source tools.
